TFFF1′s The Survivalist comes in at No.1 on the brit list

TFFF1 are delighted to announce that this month The Survivalist came in at No.1 on the 2013 Brit List.

Created in 2007 as a UK version of the highly commended Hollywood Black List, The Brit List is voted for by top development executives in the UK with a view to marking out the top as-of-yet unproduced screenplays. Scripts like, ‘”Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Salmon Fishing In The Yemen” and “Lawless” all got their start on the list.

In order to appear on the list, scripts have to receive a minimum of 3 or more votes. This year, there was a wider pool of scripts nominated with fewer receiving the necessary 3 votes. The Survivalist received a very impressive total of 7 votes. TFF is extremely excited to be producing this excellent script and look forward to making the film this year.

YOUTUBE PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS ON THE WAY

YouTube is set to begin paid-for subscriptions for specific channels on its service as a way of attracting content producers away from TV.

The company has contacted a small pool of producers asking them to submit applications to create YouTube channels that will cost between £1 – £5 to access per month. Alongside this, the company is considering charging for content libraries and access to live events on a pay-per-view basis.

Set up in 2005, The Blacklist is compiled from the recommendations of over 290 Hollywood Film Executives and has grown to become the premier form of recognition for unproduced screenplays and quality writing.

The Hobbit – 24 FPS vs 48 FPS

Critics have been divided over the positive/negative impact of Peter Jackson’s foray into new high-technology style of filming for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Jackson, with support from such heavyweight directors as James Cameron, defends his decision as a necessary measure to draw younger audiences to the cinema with groundbreaking technology, and an experience that people can’t possibly hope to gain on their laptops. Critics, on the other hand,  have hit back claiming that whilst the faster speed removes the so-called ‘judder’ effect from scenes – creating a highly realistic viewing experience – fantasy films that heavily rely on CGI and fantastical sets actually suffer from using this style of filming. In other words, the ‘real’ shots of New Zealand’s landscapes look incredible in The Hobbit, but the gorgeous sets audience’s came to love in The Lord of the Rings trilogy actually suffer from a more realistic, ‘soap-opera’ style of filming.
